“The students who have already taken the ‘Study Skills Program’, have definitely improved their organizational skills, overall study habits, productivity and feel better about themselves.  Their teachers have seen and commented on the significant difference they have observed in these students’ classroom performance.”

To help young people develop better study and organization skills, Carolyn Melmed, an educator with 35 years teaching experience, has created a new DVD entitled Unleashing Your Child's Potential.

The DVD covers four topics: motivation, communication, discipline and learning strategies. Viewers learn methods to solve problems, strategies for stopping procrastination and ways to master memorization and organization. For more information, call (514) 482-3819. The DVD, appropriate for school-age children to university students, costs $49.99 and is available from the website (with a 20 per cent discount) at www.ImprovingStudySkills.com.

DVD LAUNCH > article from Fielding Focus

Mark down Thursday November 11 (changed from Wed. Nov. 11). On that evening, the Central Parents Committee will host the official launch of Carolyn Melmed's new DVD: Unleashing Your Child's Potential. A teacher and founding member of the Lansdowne Centre, Ms. Melmed knows that success in school requires good study habits and that a strong relationship between students, parents, and teachers is essential to effective learning. Unleashing Your Child's Potential is a comprehensive instructional guide that focuses on how parents can become good coaches, motivate their children and provide them with learning methods, a sense of discipline and effective communication skills. Parents will learn how to help their children evolve from being dependent on parents and teachers, to becoming independent learners, and ultimately to achieve higher grades and become more successful students. Parents can learn how to set up a good learning environment at home, an effective homework routine and how to prepare for parent/teacher interviews.

"I believe that learning is a shared responsibility and that parents must work together with their children to optimize their learning potential and academic performance," says Ms. Melmed. "I was compelled to produce this DVD because of the lack of resources for parents, despite their being indispensable in the learning process."
